Family Support Worker

Blue Coat Governors wish to appoint a Family Support Worker to start as soon as possible.
The Governors are looking to recruit a well-motivated, enthusiastic, and resourceful Family Support Worker with previous experience of delivering effective and dynamic support to both children and families in the primary setting. The role is wide ranging working across both the Infant and Junior schools and will include such things as improving attendance, working with outside agencies, signposting families, making referrals, attending meetings, home visits, co-ordinating Families First (Early Help) support, running sessions for parents and supporting children in school to overcome barriers to learning. You will be one of the trained DSLs in school.
Candidates must have relevant qualifications, have excellent communication skills to develop effective relationships with both children and families and be able to work within appropriate professional boundaries.
What we are looking for:-
· Ability to engage with parents/care giver on a one to one basis
· An awareness of Safeguarding and Child protection issues
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
· An understanding and knowledge of child attachment
· Previous demonstrable experience of working directly with children on both a one-to-one and group basis
· The role requires travel to homes, therefore driving is an essential part of the role. It is essential that candidates have use of their own vehicle, which have suitable business insurance, and a full driving licence. Travel expenses to carry out the role are provided
· A level 3 qualification or equivalent, for example: in child care, social care or family support work, is desirable.

We are a Federation of the Blue Coat Infant and Junior schools. The two schools share a commitment to high standards and a strong Christian ethos. We enjoy excellent support from our parents and the schools successfully serve their multi-faith community. Both schools are three form entry and there are over 650 children attending the two schools.
The Governors are looking to appoint a highly effective Attendance Officer to start in September 2025.
We are looking for an Attendance Officer with high aspirations and expectations for themselves and our pupils, and with a passion for bringing about positive change throughout the Federation. The ideal candidate will be hardworking, focused on improvement and have an unconditional positive regard for all young people.
You will work with the school’s attendance policy and procedures to ensure a co-ordinated approach to pupil absence/attendance. You will monitor pupils’ attendance on a daily, weekly, half termly, termly and yearly basis.
Working within government guidance you will develop attendance action plans with children and families and utilise the legal framework to ensure parents and carers are held to account if improvements are not made in a timely manner.

· Be caring, patient and understanding, friendly and approachable with a good sense of humour

· Be able to supervise the children during outside play encouraging sensible behaviour.
